Most Mouse Tweaks problems fall into two groups: the mod never loads, or the mod loads but one inventory behavior does not work as expected. Troubleshooting is faster when you separate those cases.
If the mod does not load at all
Confirm the game version, loader and JAR all match. Then verify the JAR is in the correct instance’s mods folder and that the launcher is actually starting the modded profile.
If the game crashes during startup
Temporarily remove duplicate or outdated Mouse Tweaks files. Then check for a loader mismatch and test with a minimal mod set. Startup crashes often indicate incompatibility before the inventory code ever runs.
If wheel transfer is reversed
Open the Mouse Tweaks configuration and review the wheel direction option. The mod supports different direction behavior, so a reversed feel may be a setting preference rather than a malfunction.
If one custom GUI ignores Mouse Tweaks
Try a vanilla chest or inventory. If the tweaks work there, the custom GUI may have changed standard container or mouse handling. Look for compatibility notes from that GUI mod or test without it.
If nothing changes after editing config
Make sure you edited the configuration used by the active instance and restart the client when necessary. Launchers with multiple instances can keep separate config directories, which makes it easy to edit the wrong file.
